Summer Mini Sessions | Jacksonville Portrait Photography

Summer is just around the corner, and with my upcoming trips to Mississippi, I figured I better carve out a date in the schedule for my annual summer mini sessions!Sessions will be June 16th from 2-7pm and time slots are first come first serve. Sessions will be 30mins in length and will be scheduled back to back.

This year will be a little bit different, there is a special rate for Military, Police, Fire & Rescue families!!! Sessions are $85 or $65 and require a $35 non refundable deposit to reserve your session time. Disks are $35 or you have the option of $2 downloads if you only need/want a couple of images from your session… I expect the good time slots to book up fast, so email info@jesscumbie.com to reserve your session today!

Jo & Jeffrey Engagment Sneak Peek

Jo & Jeffrey will be getting married on Jacksonville Beach this summer. They are from the Tallahassee, FL area and were here to do some cake testing and camping at Anastasia State Park this weekend… While they were here we decided to head over to the St. Augustine Light House for some photos. Such a beautiful area for photos. The climb to the top however, proved to be too much for this out of shape Photographer. Once we were at the top Jo, who I’m sure is more physically fit than I have ever been in my life, is all smiles and ready to climb 200 more stairs… I however, not quite that lucky. After snapping a couple of shots in the very small limited area at the top dizziness set in and I had to sit down for a good 10mins to catch my breath… (While Jo, aka wonder woman, went to get me something to drink) quite embarrassing… But, I’m recovering with Sweet by Holly cupcakes

Without further ado, here are there sneak peeks. I’m feeling like I should have more near death experiences on photoshoots… it’s like an automatic push from the comfort zone and I’m loving the images of the super fun (& fit) couple!

Yes this next photo is weird, and I did have a reflector/shade thingie with me… but I opted not to use it cause I like the funky shadow effect in the photo… you don’t have to, it’s all good…

Jenny, Carlos, Charlie & Cooper…Awaiting Finley | Maternity Session

I’ve been trying for years to adapt myself and my work to the traditional family, maternity and newborn portraits. The matching shirts on the beach or in a park. The piled together photos of families in the grass. The crazy puffy newborn hats and strange sleeping poses that seem to dominate the current photography industry. I’ve tried, and I can’t. I’ve done these sessions, to be completely honest, I don’t enjoy them and I don’t like the images I produce… I don’t like fumbling with a baby for hours to try to get one shot… It’s simply not my style.To me having a baby is a real life thing, not something Anne Gettings would dream up. It’s about cravings, balancing life, your life about to change forever. If you already have kids it’s about them having to share you with another small human being. It’s about sing along songs permeating your house at all hours of the day… Why photographers want to wrap a baby in a potato sac and try to make it sit up all while staying asleep, it’s honestly beyond me. (but more power to them!)I’ve thought about the more causal real life sessions for a while now… lucky for me, a couple of my really great clients were down with the idea when I proposed it to them. I love the result. I feel like this is work I can comfortably stand behind and love. Not feel like I’m trying to fill someone else’s shoes or standards.This is the Jess Cumbie Photography style of maternity & newborn shoot.

Yep, it’s blurry, from hair to toe… and I’m ok with it.
